Welcome to Classics Book Club! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Classics Book Club, operated by BookClave LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using our service, you agree to these Terms.

1. About Our Service

Classics Book Club is an AI-powered book club platform that lets you engage in discussions with AI-simulated literary characters from classic books. Our service is designed for entertainment and educational purposes.

Important: The AI characters you interact with are creative simulations. They are not real people, do not represent the views of the original authors, and may produce responses that contain inaccuracies. Please see our AI Content Disclaimer for more details.

2. Account Registration

To use Classics Book Club, you must create an account with a valid email address. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Keep your login credentials secure and confidential
• Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
• Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian. Users under 13 are not permitted to use this service in compliance with COPPA regulations.

3. Subscriptions and Payments

Classics Book Club offers both free and paid subscription plans:

• Free Plan: Limited to 40 AI messages per month
• Reader Plan ($4.99/month): 150 AI messages per month
• Scholar Plan ($12.99/month): 500 AI messages per month

Billing

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe, our payment processor. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You can cancel anytime from your account settings—your access will continue until the end of your current billing period.

Refunds

We offer a 7-day refund policy for new subscriptions. If you're not satisfied within 7 days of your initial purchase and haven't used the service extensively, contact us at support@classicsbookclub.com for a full refund. After 7 days, refunds are provided at our discretion.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Classics Book Club responsibly and lawfully. You may not:

• Use the service for any illegal purpose
• Harass, abuse, or harm others through the platform
• Attempt to manipulate AI characters to produce harmful, illegal, or inappropriate content
• Share your account credentials with others
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the service
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits or security measures
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of our AI systems
• Use the service to train competing AI models

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

5. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Our AI literary characters are simulations created for entertainment and educational purposes. Please understand:

• AI responses may contain factual errors or inconsistencies
• Characters are interpretations and may not accurately reflect the source material
• AI-generated content does not constitute professional advice of any kind
• You should not rely on AI responses for legal, medical, financial, or other professional guidance
• We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content

6. Content Ownership

Your Content

You retain ownership of the messages and content you create on Classics Book Club. By using our service, you grant us a limited license to store and process your content as necessary to provide the service.

Our Content

The Classics Book Club platform, including our AI systems, character personas, user interface, and branding, is owned by BookClave LLC and protected by intellectual property laws.

Public Domain Books

The classic books featured on our platform are sourced from Project Gutenberg and are in the public domain. Our AI character interpretations based on these works are our creative additions.

7. Copyright and DMCA Policy

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on Classics Book Club infringes your copyright, please send a DMCA notice to support@classicsbookclub.com including:

• Identification of the copyrighted work
• Identification of the allegedly infringing material
• Your contact information
• A statement of good faith belief that the use is not authorized
• A statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate
• Your physical or electronic signature

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at support@classicsbookclub.com. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion, with or without notice.

Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. We may delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• Classics Book Club is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater
• We are not responsible for any decisions you make based on AI-generated content

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BookClave LLC, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the service or violation of these Terms.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes by email or through the service. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of South Carolina using Delaware Law.
